RSHE PORTAL KNOW-HOW WEBINAR – ALL SCHOOLS

The Schools Engagement Coordinator is taking bookings for a fourth (and most likely the final event this academic year) in June. This webinar will provide an interactive tour of the Schools RSHE Portal to showcase this resource and explain how it can be used practically in your settings and how it can benefit schools.

This session will be after school on Monday 14th June 2021 at 1530 for a 1545 start, until 1700. As schools tend to have their whole staff meetings earlier in the week, it is fine for schools to book on as whole team if you would like to make this part of your meeting (although please do let me know if this is your intention so I can account for numbers). The session will be hosted on Microsoft Teams.

This session is for both completely new RSHE Portal users and existing users who just need a refresher, and will cover:

  • What the portal is and why it has been put in place for all Suffolk schools
  • Resources for lesson planning
  • Signposting due to issues raised by/linked to RSHE
  • Support for schools as they begin to open more widely
  • The bookshelf and calendar resources
  • SEND resources and RSHE
  • Events and RSHE news

Feedback from the previous webinars highlighted that 86-91% of attendees felt inspired to use the portal more following their attendance (the rest said their use would be about the same).

96% of Suffolk schools currently have access to the portal (this is a resource for our county only) and some existing users from Suffolk Schools have said the following about it:

“The portal has proved invaluable to launching our new RSHE Programme. Offering current resources and links, it is easy to navigate and user friendly.  By having access to the portal allows our staff to plan using up to date material and keep lessons fresh and interesting.”

“It literally has everything! As someone new to leading PSHCE, and is at the very start of implementing changes, couldn’t be more grateful for this.”

“It was really useful! It is great to finally have somewhere with all of the information and support in one place! Thank you”

“What you have created is simply amazing! I can’t tell you what a support this will be in allowing us to full implement the new statutory, but moving forward, allowing us to also keep up to date and deliver the very best education we can.”

“We are loving the portal and have made great use of it – in school and online lessons, Awareness Day activities, courses. I have been recommending it all over the place!!!”

“I have enjoyed exploring the RSHE Portal and the wealth of information all brought together within one easy to access portal! I was teaching Year 6 in the autumn term of this academic year and would have found this invaluable when teaching health and relationships units as part of PSHE.”

To book on the session please contact the Schools Engagement Coordinator at jane.stannard@suffolk.gov.uk with the names and school emails of anyone wishing to attend (multiple attendees are welcome but all delegates details are required even if logging in as part of your staff meetings).

BOOKING DEADLINE IS 1630 ON WEDNESDAY 9TH JUNE 2021

In addition to this session, thinking ahead to the next academic year and making best use of the SCC recommended PD Days, would it be useful/feasible to run some form of RSHE event by webinar that multiple schools could join in with in Early September or perhaps later in the academic year?

The Schools Engagement Coordinator is reaching out to schools to see if this is something that would be welcomed, and if so, what might be most useful for schools, and importantly, if many schools follow the recommended PD days?

The SCC recommended PD days for Suffolk schools for 2021/22 are:

  • Wednesday 1 September 2021
  • Friday 22 October 2021
  • Tuesday 4 January 2022
  • Monday 28 February 2022
  • Friday 8 April 2022

The Schools Engagement Coordinator is wondering if hosting some form of RSHE event on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of September, at a specified time (to be decided) would be useful (this would be a webinar event multiple schools could join in on and not a physical visit to individual schools) and if so, what kind of theme would be most useful?

Initial thoughts are to run the Portal Know-How webinar again on these dates to capture new starters, or potentially look at doing something else if any schools have more specific ideas about what they may still find useful at that stage.

Please do contact the Schools Engagement Coordinator  at jane.stannard@suffolk.gov.uk if you have any ideas that you would like to put forward for for consideration.
